Living la dolce vita in Portofino…

Portofino is at the heart of the Italian Riviera and this is where the jet-set live the good life, dropping into this charming port town on their gigantic yachts to pick up local gelato or have seafood linguini in one of the waterside restaurants. The pretty little town has not changed in decades and the colourful house once owned by local fishermen and now kept by famous designers, politicians and actors are stacked up around the port in a beautifully picturesque setting. Hike up the the steep woodland path to Castello Brown, an old fort turned castle turned museum, and enjoy the stunning views of Portofino and beyond, surrounded by that deep dark blue sea that can only be the Mediterranean. Enjoy a long, lazy lunch in one of the pricey, yet quaint restaurants overlooking the port and finish off with some gelato or stroll up to the classic Splendido Hotel to enjoy sunset cocktails in the spot where Richard Burton first proposed to Elizabeth Taylor – soak up the glamour, the sunshine and the good life… living la dolce vita indeed!
