Snuggling up at the Porches Inn after a day on the slopes…

Cosy up at Porches!

Cosy up at Porches!

Many people hate the winter. Not TravelBella! Although partial to beaches and warmer climates I love to ski and snuggle up with a hot chocolate (with a dash of Baileys of course!) in front of a cosy fire or drink bubbles in the hot tub – all part of the après-ski dahhhhhhling! You can do all of the aforementioned at the cosy yet stylish Porches Inn located in the sleepy little town of North Adams in the heart of the Berkshires, a scenic New England spot situated just a few hours drive from New York City. The pretty cottages, once homes to the local miners, have been beautifully restored into a boutique hotel with ‘granny chic’ decor, a heated outdoor pool, a hot tub (for your après-ski bubbles) and hot chocolate & cookies on demand! You can take breakfast (in your PJs!) in the inviting dining area where a sumptuous breakfast is served, or it can be delivered to your room in a the form of a miners lunch, complete with milk in old-fashioned milk bottles – so charming, so quaint, you will so go back! This is one of my favourite winter weekend getaways and I have been many times as it is just a few hours drive from NY. Although it’s not all about relaxation – be sure to get some skiing/snowboarding action in and you can hit the local slopes of Jiminy Peak which are just a short drive away or visit the largest contemporary art gallery in the US – Mass MoCA which is literally across the street. Although the Porches Inn is so relaxing and so cosy that you may find it hard to get out of bed in the morning! Oh well you can always go back another time!
