Pick up some lobster in the Hamptons!

Summer in New York means weekend trips to the beach and one of the most popular destinations for New Yorkers is the Hamptons. At the far tip of Long Island after a 2.5 to 5 hour drive from the city (depending on traffic!) a world of serene beaches, mega million dollar mansions, glitzy parties, upscale dining and BBCs await. Wait, what is a ‘BBC’? Other than being the British Broadcasting Corporation most visitors to the Hamptons will have stopped by Cyril’s Fish House between Amagansett and Montauk for happy hour and enjoyed their famous BBC (Bailey’s Banana Colada) served fresh in a plastic cup. The constant whirring of the blender behind the bar is testament to the popularity of the BBC and the roadside bar and restaurant hosts a happy crowd from 4pm, such is the popularity of Cyril’s at this time that the bar dwellers spill out into the car park and onto the dusty roadside. Head on from Cyril’s to the Surf Lodge in Montauk for dinner and cocktails into the early hours! Cyril’s is also a great lunch spot, there is almost nothing more perfect than fresh lobster on a hot summer’s day. Just across the street from the beach take a break from sunning yourself for a $20 lobster and let the hot butter drip down your chin and don’t worry about making a mess, this is not one of the fancy dining hot spots of East Hampton. Following your delicious and indulgent lunch you can take a dip into the ocean and wash it all off before taking in some more beach time and getting ready for the 4pm happy hour and a BBC!
