Looking for Baby Seals at Coronado Beach…

Navy Seals not Baby Seals at Coronado Beach

Navy Seals not Baby Seals at Coronado Beach

California is one of those places that really does have it all! Mountains, desert and stunning coastline! San Diego is a favourite destination for so many people, you rarely hear anyone say anything bad about this city and with the fantastic zoo, great nighglife and beautiful beaches you can’t go wrong! I particularly loved the beach on Coronado Island which you can reach easily by bridge from downtown San Diego. The beaches are vast and sandy with the deep blue of the Pacific Ocean meeting the clear blue sunny skies of the West Coast. The world-famous classic hotel, Hotel del Coronado, featured in the Marilyn Monroe classic ‘Some Like it Hot’ perches on the edge of the sands with it’s celebrated red turrets contrasting like beacons against the blue sky, it is worth popping inside to see the exhibition of the hotel even if everyone else has the same idea so it gets pretty crowded! On the beach I was told to look out for baby seals and was disappointed when I did not see any (who doesn’t love a cute seal pup?!) only to find out later that it was Navy Seals on the beach who train in this area, not quite as cute as baby seals! However if you are an avid nature fan then you can sometimes see whales in the ocean from the coastline of San Diego that just adds to the charm of this city where everything is golden, sunny and magical – even if there are no baby seals!
