Taking a Dip in a London Park…

Take a Dip in a Pond on Hamstead Heath…

There is no better city than London when the weather behaves itself and with the sunshine comes happy faces, al fresco dining, and abundant park space for picnics, BBQs and swimming! London is blessed with more green space than most cities and from Victoria Park in the East to the commons of the South, Regent and Hyde in the centre, there is Hamspstead Heath in the North – and these are just a few! Many of the London parks have lidos and you can take a refreshing dip free of charge, or for a small fee depending on where you are, and then dry off with a BBQ and some cool beers. If you want something more natural then head to the vast space that is Hampstead Heath and have a swim in one of the freshwater bathing ponds. These are an institution and have been around for many years, in fact they are open all year round should you wish for an ice-cold plunge in winter time! There are the Highgate Ponds in the north of the Heath with single-sex pools and then a mixed pond called Highgate Pond. TravelBella had a wonderful dip last weekend and with the glorious summer that London is currently experiencing the green space and cool ponds and lidos are a welcome relief from the sweltering city heat, as long as you don’t have to brave the Tube there – hop on a Boris bike if possible to avoid being underground and don’t forget to pack your picnic!
