Being on Top of the World…

Top of the World at Top of The Rock

Aaaaaaaah Manhattan! The Big Apple, a city that everyone must visit, or if fortunate enough live for a while. Having been a New Yorker for a number of years I frequently get asked about places to stay, eat at, hang out at and do in this unique and fantastic city. One of my favourite things to do is go to the ‘Top of the Rock’, located at the top of the Rockefeller Center and 70 floors above midtown Manhattan. Here you can take in an unobstructed 360 degree view of the city and it’s a photographers dream. You can see all 5 boroughs from this high vantage point, as well as many well-loved landmarks, from Lady Liberty and Ellis Island to Central Park, and the famed skyscrapers that make up New York’s world-renowned skyline. Top of the Rock is the one thing I would suggest to do if you had just one afternoon in New York City. It is a little pricey (around $28 per person) but worth it to see the magnitude of the big apple. Also don’t be fooled by the myths that it is better to go up the Empire State Building, yes it may be more romantic (in the movies!) but the queues are longer and you don’t get the skyline with the Empire State Building in it, or see Central Park. Oh and there is free wireless at Top of the Rock so great for updating your social media with impressive photos!
